Ashden Award

The Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy recognize inspirational and innovative renewable energy projects from around the world which provide both social and economic benefits to local communities and contribute towards protecting the environment by curbing deforestation and reducing our dependence on fossil fuels—thereby helping tackle climate change.

In 2005, TWP and our partner organization AHDESA (the Honduran Association for Development) won this prestigious award, often referred to as "the green Oscar," for the micro-enterprise stove project in Honduras. The award, made through Climate Care Ltd., provided funding for various activities of the stove project, including seed capital for stove construction, the micro-credit fund, training, and marketing.

PROLEÑA, TWP's partner in Nicaragua, also won the Ashden Award in 2003 and 2006 for the Eco-stove project. Climate Care is funding our stove projects in both Honduras and Nicaragua to offset carbon and reduce global warming.
