Development Internship (Unpaid)


Location:

Trees, Water & People (TWP) office in Fort Collins

Internship Details:

  • Minimum of 8 weeks, which typically fall during the Fall Semester, Spring Semester, or Summer Semester
  • 5-10 hours/week between 9:00 am-5:00 pm, M-F; flexible schedule within those hours

Description:

Assist Development team with raising funds to support TWP’s International Programs in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Cuba and TWP’s National Programs, focusing on the Tribal Lands Renewable Energy Program, Reforestation, and Food Sovereignty Program.

Primary Activities:

  • Research potential foundation, government, and corporate prospects using online memberships and resources
  • Draft letters of inquiry, full proposals, and award nominations for submission
  • Draft reports for previously awarded grants
  • Assist with logistics for local fundraising events
  • Assist with donor relations and cultivation
  • Additional tasks as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Strong persuasive writing, communication, and research skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Gmail, and internet search engines
  • Spanish language skills a plus
  • Previous grant research and writing is a plus

Required Personality Traits:

  • Responsible, organized, detail-oriented, motivated, creative, work independently, communicate effectively, multi-task
  • Interest in TWP’s mission, natural resource management, conservation, and community-based development
  • Interested in nonprofit management and development
